I am loving this!
This is the perfect example of how music remembers an elderly lady with dementia and profound hearing loss. She was far away from human voice as well as music.

No electricity needed
Wherever you are in or out, a gramophone only needs you to crank up just like an old time grandfather's clock. Everything else goes just fine with HMV 102.

When Thomas Edison  invented his  phonograph using wax cylinder in 1877, he simply assumed that it would be for a language machine. Music appreciation was his fourth application.  When the phonograph was introduced to Japan in 1878, it was translated as “a speech resurrecting machine" (言機 <so-gon-ki> or a sound resurrecting machine” (蘇音機<so-on-ki).  These Japanese translation  is definitely far better than  phonograph or gramophone, which simply means "sound writing or writing sound) .  Although Edison ended up advancing from  cylinder  "diamond disc",  the word, gramophone became a norm since it utilises discs only.  Berliner (1888)  who invented disc recording system once said that hearing voices in the groove would be “like holding community with immortality.” It is this interactive and introspective feature of gramophone sound that makes gramophone music therapy effective especially tot the elderly with dementia and hearing loss.

Participants will be convinced that  a gramophone with  78 rpm records would be enough to be connected to the ones they love and music they cherish.
